Live Feels Good Right About Now

For those who know me, you know that I don't do so well in Winter. Unfortunately, I have a husband who THRIVES on the white stuff! (The unfortunate thing is that he loves snow. . . not that I have a husband). I enjoy snow, but I don't enjoy the cold, cloudy, no sun days that come along with it. People tend to ask, then living in _____________ is not for you. You can put almost anywhere in that blank except maybe the south. Well, for now, I don't have much of a choice because we go where the Army sends us.

In order to get over my gloomy months, I have started to get myself more active indoors. I told My husband when I was pregnant with #3 that I needed to have a way of working out inside. I wasn't going to join a gym and drag 3 kids across town especially in the snowy months because it would be more stress than ANY workout is worth. So, I told him that I wanted to get Wii Fit. I admit that I have missed 2 of my "scheduled" workout days because I have just gotten overwhelmed and the kids haven't given me a moments rest, but I have been doing very well otherwise and I have TONS more energy, and I can even say that I'm pretty happy most of the time, and I am able to find more patience because I feel good. I started out on the light workout because I wanted to give my body healing time, but I have already lost 3 pounds in the past 2 weeks, and I feel my muscles working more and more.

The second thing that I have done is joined flylady.net. I am kind of a fanatic at times when it comes to keeping my house clean. I don't scrub the floors or make sure that every corner is clean every minute of every day, but CLUTTER drives me crazy. I am constantly following my kids around cleaning up the toys that get spread around the entire house, and I find that I spend ALL day cleaning up. I had heard a few things about fly lady, so I figured I would look into it. I like that she breaks things up into small tasks and really when you look at what they suggest, you are able to have a clean house in less than an hour a day. I find that I don't stress my kids out by constantly cleaning, but I am able to let them play and then I can make a game out of cleaning everything up in 15 minutes. I was able to straighten my entire house in 15 minutes today! WOW!!! (Again, I didn't vacuum or scrub, but it looked presentable and I was okay with that).

The final thing that I have done in order to relieve some of my stress is join e-mealz. I was worried at first because I have a husband who is picky when it comes to food. He doesn't like certain foods, and he doesn't eat left overs. After having my kids, I usually don't ask for meals because half of the time he doesn't like them and I end up making him something anyways. So, I was a skeptic. But, I'm always looking for easy, and it only cost $5 a month so I figured I'd check it out, and so far, I LOVE IT! Every week, I can pull up a pre-made menu for the week (7 meals), and it comes with the shopping list to go with it. So you take your list to the store, buy those ingredients and *Badda Bing* you are ready to cook for the week. I am one of those people who would plan out a schedule and then go shopping and it would take me so much time to get things planned and decide what to eat etc... so now it just takes me the time to go to the store. I just started this week, but so far we have liked every meal that we have tried. My husband has called them all "keepers", which coming from him is a great compliment. The other best thing is that ALL of the recipes are simple and have very few steps to complete them. These would be perfect meals to teach your kids to make for the family and they have sides too etc... very nice!!

So, those are the things that I am doing to simplify my life and make things run a little smoother. I love that it gives me more time for my little kiddos.

Now You're Up to Date

Well if you have made it to this point then you are all up to date on our family and what we have been up to. This past week we have had a stomach virus pop in to visit, and I think we are ready to send it packing. I think everyone has been affected but the baby and I so we are very lucky. Maybe I should go knock on wood now.

Iowa has been COLD!! I thought that New York was cold, but this is insane cold. I have heard that this is pretty extreme for the area so hopefully it will start staying in the 20s and 30s so that we can enjoy the outsides a bit once everyone is healthy again.

I can't turn my back without my kids getting bigger and without someone doing something crazy. I love my family it is the greatest!

Our Little Mama graduated from Nursery and is now a Sunbeam in primary. She cried the first few weeks, but this past week she went and didn't cry. She was nervous to leave Mommy, but she did very well. She is enjoying learning new songs and she is even learning hand motions too. It is cute to watch. Little man is still in Nursery, and I think he is the oldest/biggest in his class. He went from only speaking 6 words a few months ago to speaking all sorts of words. He can even say "Coke". HAHA that one makes me laugh. He loves asking for "Cocoa" even though he doesn't drink it when I give it to him.

Blessing Day

Our little Miss had her blessing in the church done while we were visiting family in UT. She was blessed in my sister's ward (congregation) on the same day as her cousin Madison. They are two weeks apart in age so it was fun because they looked like twins.

I had started a dress before Lil Man was born, and when I pulled it out to finish it for Little Miss, it had rust stains in it from pins. (hint, don't leave pins in outfits that you aren't finishing very soon). I was just going to make it work, but after looking at the material (scraps from my wedding dress), I realized that I actually had enough to start again, and so that is what we did. My mom and I sewed it up in a week. (I made her do the parts that drove me nuts last time!!! Like the hand sewing and the sleeves, and then Daddy threaded her needles so he could say he had done his part! It was awesome to see how well it turned out!

These were her first smiles! It was great to get them on camera.

Christmas Day

I love Christmas. The excitement of it all. The joy on the kids faces. The reason behind it all. My oldest came to me the other day with a toy she had received, and said "I got this on Jesus' Birthday". It is cool that she is even starting to realize why we are celebrating. I'm definitely thankful for the birth of our Savior.

Daddy and I bought each other the same gift. We looked at the wrapped gifts, and suspected that they might be the same. We had a big laugh when we opened them. I laughed and told him that I had said at what point what I was getting him. It was pretty funny!!

What can I say? I have two pretty girls! They definitely look like sisters.

Grandpa sacked out with Kitty.

Christmas Eve

On Christmas Eve, the family got together at Grandma and Grandpa's house and we enjoyed dinner and then had the kids act out the Nativity while Grandpa read the scriptures. It was so much like when we were little kids. It was fun. Living far from family, we don't get together all that often, but it is fun to be able to be able to when we can.

Grandma even had Grandpa knock down a wall for the event. The living room was large enough for us to set up tables and all eat together.
