Once in a Lifetime Opportunity

This is one of those "Once in a Lifetime" opportunities. We were taking a private tour of the Pentagon. An old friend of B's from his first tour in Iraq is currently stationed there. He took us around, and we ran in to a CW5 Jenkins (we believe was his name) who works in the office of Gen. Casey.

We were invited in to see Gen. Casey's office. What an impressive place. There is so much history in there, and it was just neat to be a part of it. There is an original Noman Rockwell worth nearly 2 million, a globe that Eisenhower outlined post war Germany on, the original chief of staff pin that has been passed down from Gen. McArthur and much more. Really cool!!

B asked if he could sit in the desk, and of course we had to get a picture. You aren't allowed to get pictures in most places there, but they allowed this one.

If you ever get a chance to tour the pentagon, take it up. I had never realized how much history is in that building. I just thought it would be a large cement building and be drabby on the inside, but it is like a museum inside and there is truly so much history in there that you will never see in a smithsonian. I definitely love my country

Interesting fact: The pentagon is made up of 17 miles of corridors and 125,000 miles of computer cable. (All those computer geeks like B will like that information!)

What a Big Boy I Have

I know it is a fluke, but I'm still very proud of my little boy. J woke up dry the past 2 days, and his Daddy took him into the bathroom and let him stand in front of the toilet, and he went!! How cool is that?!? Now, I am definitely positive that he will not potty train anytime soon, but it is nice to see that he thinks it is fun to go in the potty. He never gives us signs during the day that he needs to go, but hey, if he wants to stay dry at night, that would be really cool!!

Strawberries and Family Fun

I love the Summertime! It is probably my favorite time of the year because we can get outside and wear shorts and not have to worry about snow and cold and being stuck inside for hours at a time.

Last week, we took the kids to U-Pick Farm and picked 1 gallon of strawberries. Yep, they are almost all gone now! We were taken out to the strawberry patch on a tractor which the kids thought was VERY cool!

And then dropped off to pick and eat to our hearts content. The kids had a ball! A keeps talking about how we picked strawberries. She really had a fun time and enjoyed eating and sometimes picking the strawberries.

J enjoyed picking the strawberries too, but he definitely ate more than he kept. He enjoyed playing with the sprinklers more than anything else. He just had a grand old time!

A decided to wash J's hair with dish soap and water. I decided her punishment would be to have the same thing done to her. She cried and cried because she was TOO big to have her hair washed in the sink. Daddy decided that he would show her that he could do it too and that he wasn't too big. He is such a good guy!

What a fun way to start the 4th of July! We took the kids with their visiting grandparents to Home Depot for the Kid Craft Time. They made Picnic Caddies. It was really fun! This was J's first time to help out and wear an apron, he felt really grown up!

We love having visitors come out to see us! This is B's Dad's second trip out. The weather was once again cold, but at least it didn't rain/snow the entire time! It was an enjoyable weekend.
